In case you haven’t been privileged enough to find out yourself Jessica has been making her Grandma Slone’s apple butter for about two years now…however always with store bought apple sauce because Gma said it was too much work. Well let’s just say (it is) but well worth it. Prompted by constant taunting from Sarah Helsinger that Collin LOVED her applesauce we went on a mission
1) Starts with the fact that FFA chapters sell fruit and therefore there was a lot of APPLES everywhere at good prices. Always Jessica used a variety of Granny, Golden and Red to make it.
2) You should know that this was a family of three process…Jessica peeled and cored passed on to Emma who while snacking on them loaded them in the crock pot and of course Collin helped jar and taste test
3) Batch 3 was the favorite hands-down only took two days to get there and nothing went to waste as most of it went to making apple butter for family and friends that we love.
4) Your a FOOL if you think I am about to give away the recipe that took me days and hours peeling apples for! Ha ha happy new year!
